Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do at AustChilli. As a proudly family-owned, vertically integrated business, we take full responsibility for every step of our process, from our farm to the finished product. Based in Bundaberg, our chilli farms, avocado orchards and world-class production facility operate with a deep commitment to reducing our environmental footprint and giving back to the land that sustains us.

CARBON NEGATIVE
We’re proud to have achieved a carbon-negative, climate-positive status by offsetting over 2,150 tonnes of carbon each year. That’s 66% more than our total emissions, thanks to regenerative farming practises, energy use and waste management.
COVER CROPS
Cover crops are planted to restore soil health, improve structure and boost moisture retention between growing seasons. They support biodiversity by attracting pollinators and beneficial insects, helping us maintain healthy, productive land for the future.
ZERO FOOD WASTE
We compost all organic waste on-site, including avocado seeds and herbs or chillies that don’t meet quality standards. Used as natural bio-fertiliser, this cuts 295 tonnes of CO₂ yearly. All cardboard is recycled, saving another 50 tonnes from landfill.
SOLAR EFFICIENT
We avoid over 375 tonnes of CO₂ annually through on-site solar energy. Rooftop panels supply 40% of our factory’s electricity, while solar-powered pumps keep our dams healthy by preventing algae and supporting crop and orchard irrigation.
RECYCLED WATER
All water used in our production facility is captured and reused to irrigate our crops and orchards, saving over 17 million litres each year. This closed-loop system reduces reliance on local supply and strengthens our drought resilience.
REEF-SAFE
We proudly hold Hort360 Reef Certification, which recognises commitment to sustainable farming in the Great Barrier Reef catchment. By reducing runoff and protecting local waterways, we help preserve one of Australia's most vital ecosystems.
